The annual Nativity in the Glen was held on December 9th, 2009. This was my first time at this event, having lived in the neighborhood for about 5 years now. I knew it was probably going to be a good turnout because after I posted the event on my blog, my traffic tripled!
I’m not a big nativity or religious person, so I didn’t know what to expect. All I can say is that it was one of the best events I have attended in a long time! The mood was festive, the scenery and set up was right out of a movie production, the authenticity of the costumes was genuine, they had goats and sheep, chickens and even a camel that kids could interact with. Lots of fire pits to get warm (it was about 18 degrees) hot chocolate, and the actors/hosts were very welcoming and friendly. The whole Glen was lined with luminaries.
Attendance was robust, someone told me that about 5,000 people attended in 2008. My hope is that is doesn’t get to large for the venue. Another note for next year is not to take a pet. I took my lab, and even though he is well behaved, the farm animals make it too tempting for most dogs.
Below is a photo stream of the event. I forgot my good camera and the Blackberry doesn’t do well, especially at night. Hope you can enjoy anyway. Special thanks to all the volunteers for making it a wonderful event; First Baptist Church, Wasatch Presbyterian Church, St. Ambrose and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Churches, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bonneville Stake
